La Paz Home of the Pearl of the World |
During this stage, you will be collecting information about the pearl diving industry for which the city of La Paz is famous. Pearls collected from oysters on the seabed near La Paz helped former kings of Spain to raise armies, and pay for wars. It was on this seabed that the great Pearl of the World was reported to have been found. The questions you will need to be able to answer for potential tourists include: |
2. How many people take part in the industry? 3. How long have people been harvesting pearls near La Paz? 4. Where do the pearls come from, and how are they made? 5. How are they harvested? 6. How likely is it that another great pearl, like that in the novel, will ever be found? |
